Luke! The Smiths fight was one of the best scenes! The movie was visually amazing. The story line was not as good as the first one, but still a great flick. So, do you think Zion exists or is another layer of the Matrix? Did you stay for the preview of the third installment? I missed it, but heard it looks awsome.

Somehow, the fight scenes in the first one seemed more gripping and more integral to the story -- in the big Neo vs. Smith fight in Matrix, you really get the sense that it's last-man-standing time. Neo gets the stuffing kicked out of him, and it's a sweaty, bloody struggle. The Neo vs. Smith(s) fight in TMR is just a big eye candy spectacle -- I never felt that Neo was really in any danger. He never seemed to expend effort. It was quite bloodless and "clean."

That said, though, I liked TMR just fine. The Zion stuff went on a bit long and bogged down the start, but overall I enjoyed the expansion of the plot. The questions posed by the last 15 minutes are intriguing, and I can't wait to see what happens in November.

The little teaser after the credits was good, but not worth waiting through 87 hours of credits, IMO. We see Neo fight Smith (again), lots of big battles in the "real world," and enough CGI to choke a Cray.

Sorry, Carrie, gotta go with Ryan here. It didn't seem as if the Smiths fight scene really added anything to the story. Especially since he pretty much just left them standing and got out of there.

I thought most of the Zion stuff was worthless. There's a lot in the beginning, and then it never really gets expanded upon.

I'd agree the last bit of the movie was really intriguing. Can't say I'm sure if Zion really exists or not. The fact that Neo stopped the machines in the "real world" is a bit hard to explain (at this point, anyway).

I didn't stick around for the bonus stuff. Maybe when I see it again...

Yeah, the Smith fight didn't add much and you never did get the feeling that Neo was in any danger...but sweet special effects. sweet. I'm with you on the Zion scenes, I didn't care much for them. Just an excuse to add sex to the movie - btw, is there any chemistry between them at all? Hopefully the third installment will make Reloaded more relevant.

but still, good popcorn movie. great visuals!

"but still, good popcorn movie. great visuals!"

You remind me of my friend Erik. Back in the day, we'd leave some totally shitty movie. His first comment would be "the special effects were great!" I was always of the opinion that if the movie sucked, I didn't give a damn about the effects.

Damn beat me to it

I've been too out of it to add my 2c, but I did actually like it... it was worth seeing. The effects were neat, sure.. the plot sucked, but I guess I was prepared for it to REALLY bite since the reviews I had read tore it apart. Sequels are hard. I hope #3 is better than #2, but it's hard to keep something fresh when the first one was a new idea, and that was key, we all know the duality now. I have to say, I want a piece of that cake that the man who kept the keymaker conjured up. There was some cheesy stuff, but I guess I didn't expect it to be life altering.
