I remember going to Soundworld in Green Bay with my father when he bought his new turntable, replacing an old BSR with a Technics, sometime in the early- to mid-80s.
[Jun 30, 2007, 15:58]Luke [e-mail] I have a vague recollection of him having an AR. I know he said the foam mat was falling apart, but I guess there must have been something else wrong with it too. That got replaced by a Nikko, which got a lot of use by me over the years. I think we thought there was something wrong with the Nikko, so it got replaced with a Sony, although we never threw the Nikko away, and a few years later I took it for my own use. Of course, then it seemed to work fine.
And it's downstairs now, although mainly gathering dust these days with the addition of my Technics.
