"Nor do they seem to have a clue what that flag they are so quick to wave actually stands for."

So, what does it stand for?

So this is the same Randy "Duke" Cunningham that's currently in hot water for sweetheart real estate deals and living on a lobbyist's yacht? Yeah, that's the guy I want lecturing me on patriotism and sacrifice.

I don't like the idea of burning a flag, I don't think it's a good way of protesting, but I don't think it should be outlawed. If anyone wants to know why an undesirable action like that should be kept legal, go to your library or go on-line and look for the majority decision written on United States vs. Eichman, a famous landmark case. It's a bit of a paradox, but if you want to preserve everything the flag stands for, you have to allow the destruction of it as a personal expression of protest.
