I spent about 16 years in RGP lenses and now have soft lenses. Soft is much better. Against all known medical advise I have been known to wear them for months without taking them out. Try doing that with RGPs.

I started off on hard lenses back in the day. I can't remember why I switched to soft but I do remember it took awhile to get used to them. They seemed so big! How could that ever fit in my eye! And what do you mean I can't just blink these out, I have to touch my eye? I then got used to them and allergies aside, had no problem. Just give it a month and see what you think at the end of it.

Well, I guess there are 3 main things to factor:

1) Ease of handling.

2) Comfort.

3) Vision quality.

Rigid contacts seem to have the edge for #1, while soft contacts might have the edge for #2 for extended wear. However, for me, #3 trumps both of those, and so far (two different types of soft contacts, a few days of wear), the soft contacts just don't come close to matching up. My Dr. even gave me some super-duper "these have the very best optical characteristics" lenses, and those seemed *worse* than the regular Acuvue pair. I had to take them out as soon as I got home due to the problems.

I might get a bit of buildup at the end of a long day in my RGP's, but my vision is significantly better. Is there some type of "break in" period with soft contacts until your vision adjusts? I remember being good to go the day I first got my RGP's.
